The mission of the Garrett Information Enterprise Center (GIEC) is to support the economic growth of Garrett County by creating an environment for facilitating the successful development of technology businesses.

The goal of Garrett County leaders is to increase new firms' chances of survival during the early, risky years. GIEC provides a low-cost, supportive environment and a network of assistance that will enable young firms to grow. Garrett County leaders are mindful that small businesses form the core of technological innovation and provide almost eighty percent of the new jobs in the United States. Since Garrett County is a designated HUBZone, the Federal government awards contracting preferences to companies located here. Small businesses that succeed also draw from an effective network of local supporters and advisors. Incubators contribute to their clients companies' successes by increasing available early stage capital, access to entrepreneurial education and other resources.Garrett County has much to offer these types of businesses.
